The enrollment of children in pre-primary education is regulated by specific procedures, in order to ensure smooth attendance and the correct distribution of students in public kindergartens.
(a) 📅 Transfers During the School Year
- The transfer of a child compulsory preschool age (4 5/12 years and older) from one public kindergarten to another is carried out:
- Upon approval of the relevant request (form MINISTRY OF PUBLIC RELATIONS 33) submitted to the relevant District Education Office.
- The parent must also provide the certificate of attendance (Ministry of Education 176) from the previous kindergarten.
- Transfer of a child from non-public kindergarten “of the same type” In a public kindergarten, the following takes place:
- With the same procedure (form MINISTRY OF PUBLIC RELATIONS 33) and
- By presentation certificate of attendance (Ministry of Education, Science and Technology IEN 05) from the previous school.
- Transfers are taking place only if there are available places.
- In case of a child being transferred from kindergarten of a different or similar type, or from school outside the Republic, it is also required:
- Approval of the request (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, DDE 33)
- Presentation birth certificates and of study.
(b) 📝 Transfers for the Next School Year
- All children of compulsory pre-primary age are registered initially in the kindergarten of their educational district.
- If they wish to attend another kindergarten outside the region, they must first complete registration in their region and then submit a transfer application.
